Sustainable Oceans and the 17 UN SDGs

March 27 at Nexus for People and Planet, Expo 2020 or online: Norway: Sustainable Oceans | World Expo (virtualexpodubai.com)

The EXPO 2020 DUBAI is one of the world’s largest business and cultural events, and a unique platform for international cooperation. “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future” is the slogan for the Expo. The focus of Norway’s participation is Pioneering Sustainable Ocean Solutions – Together.

The oceans hold the key to reaching many of the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Many ocean-based industries have the potential to outperform the growth of the global economy, both in terms of additional value and employment. That is only possible if we manage the ocean wisely.

A healthy ocean holds the solutions to many of the world’s challenges and can help us meet the expanding need for food, medicines, energy and minerals. Norway has initiated and lead international processes safeguarding the health of the ocean. Most notably, Norway has initiated and together with Palau, co-chaired the High-level Panel for a Sustainable Ocean Economy.

The UN Global Compact is an essential forum for cooperation with industry, and we are very happy to be able to address the important cooperation between governments, international organizations and businesses.

We hope this seminar will show how we can Pioneer Sustainable Ocean Solutions-Together!
