Norway Day at Expo 2020 Dubai was celebrated on Wednesday February 23rd. A high level delegation led by Minister of Fisheries and Ocean Policy Børnar Selnes Skjæran visited the Expo 2020 and Dubai.
The EXPO 2020 DUBAI is one of the world’s largest business and cultural events, and a unique platform for international cooperation. “Connecting Minds, Creating the Future” is the slogan for the Expo. The focus of Norway’s participation is Pioneering Sustainable Ocean Solutions – Together.
The opening ceremony featured Norwegian artist Magnet, and speeches by Norwegian Minister Skjæran and UAE representative His Excellency Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, Minister of State for Foreign Trade. See it here: Norway National Day Ceremony | World Expo.
The rest of the day featured visits to the Norway and UAE Pavilions, seminars on gender issues and tripartite cooperation, as well as a business forum and dinner.
The Norway Day business forum featured a panel discussion led by Commissioner General Ole Johan Sandvær with partners Jotun, Kongsberg, DNV, Yara and Campus Blue showcasing how Norwegian businesses are pioneering sustainable ocean solutions – together, as well as talks by Minister Skjæran, and represntatives from NORWEP, Yara Clean Ammonia and Gas 2 Feed.
The Confederation of Norwegian Enterprise (NHO) and the Norwegian Confederation of Trade Unions (LO) organised a seminar titled “Gender diversity creates innovation increased revenues and sustainability” in cooperation with Womens Pavilion, featuring among others President of LO Ms. Peggy Hessen Følesvik and Vice president of NHO Ms. Grete Aspelund.
